Chelsea defender John Terry believes his career at the club has been saved due to the hiring of former-boss Jose Mourinho.

The Englishman has suffered a torrid time recently due to injuries and was never a first-team regular under interim-manager Rafael Benitez, but since Mourinho has made his return back to The Bridge, Terry’s career seems to have been saved and some people are even mentioning a possible England return despite retiring last year from International football.

‘When you’re not playing week in week out it’s difficult to take. It’s the first time I’ve been out with a long injury and when you get your chance you really have to impress. Even when I was playing well I didn’t maintain my place. It’s been frustrating for me.’

‘My career is where it is because of this man next to me now and the team is in a good period. We’re slowly getting where we want to be.’

‘There was never a doubt in my mind that I would get back. When you’re in and out its nigh on impossible to pick up that form.

‘Unfortunately the manager chose the other two and that was fine. I worked hard on my fitness and played a couple of reserve team games and friendlies, behind closed doors, that sort of thing.’
