Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has concerns about his team’s mentality following Diego Costa’s three-match ban.
The Spaniard missed last night’s Capital One Cup game against Walsall, and will also miss Premier League matches against Newcastle United and Southampton.
Speaking after the club’s 4-1 win away at Walsall last night, Mourinho admitted he is worried about his players coping with Costa‘s ban.
The FA banned Costa for his actions against Arsenal on Saturday, despite Gabriel Paulista seeing his ban rescinded, and Mourinho admits losing a player to a ban is a lot harder to cope with than an injury.
“The team has lost an important player for three matches and don’t need to lose their manager. So I prefer to keep calm and quiet.
“If I bring examples and go deep and bring feelings into the discussion a big suspension will be waiting and I don’t want that. The team doesn’t need that.”
