Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has revealed he has unfinished business in Italy, and a move to Manchester United is now unlikely.

Despite the setback, the Old Trafford club are still set to offer Roma £32 million for the 24 year old.

Strootman had been linked to a reunion with Louis van Gaal, having played under the current United boss for the Dutch national team.

However the former PSV man says he wants to stay in the Italian capital.

“I want to play more, and return to my best level,” said Strootman.

“I’ve signed up for five years, but so far I’ve only been playing for six or seven months. I want to play and help the team. That’s important to me.

“If I spoke about other clubs that would be disrespectful, and I don’t want to do that.”
