Reports claim that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign another forward to ease the pressure on Roberto Firmino. Firmino had a goal to his name at the World Cup but personally, the tournament was more or less lukewarm for him with manager Tite preferring Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.

Having already signed three players during the transfer window in Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri, Jurgen Klopp is ready to sign another forward to reduce the workload on Firmino according to reports from the Liverpool Echo.

It is believed that Klopp does not have full confidence on the players at his disposal currently. He is reportedly of the opinion that Daniel Sturridge is not reliable. Sturridge had a poor season in 2017-18 as he found the net only twice for Liverpool in 9 matches before being loaned off to West Bromwich Albion. At West Brom, the 28-year old played only 6 matches and found the net zero times. Even though he scored a brace nine days back against Chester, it seems that he may have missed his chance to stay at Anfield.

Klopp also thinks that Divock Origi is a shadow of his former self. The 23-year old had a poor season at Wolfsburg where he was loaned as he scored only 6 goals in 34 matches across all competitions.

Hence, Klopp is eager to find a new striker to assist Firmino. However, if he is unable to do so, he will have to use some of the current players up front. Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are a few options he may consider. Even Xherdan Shaqiri can be considered due to his pace and shooting ability.
