Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny has revealed how he’s rejected offers from ‘bigger clubs’ across Europe in order to stay in North London.
The French international has been at Arsenal since 2010 now after moving from Lorient, and throughout his career at the Emirates, he’s quickly developed into one of the Premier League‘s best defenders.
His rise in the game hasn’t gone unnoticed and the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have both been linked with signing him throughout the years.
Despite the interest shown in him by the European giants, he has revealed why he made the decision to snub their offers and remain at Arsenal.
“There were teams interested in me but I always asked myself if it was worth taking the risk,” Koscielny told French newspaper Journal du Dimanche.
“I’ve seen a good few players leave for a bigger club and find themselves on the substitutes’ bench. At the start of my career I was often on the bench. I said to myself ‘never again’.
“For the moment, I have no reason to go and look elsewhere. I have everything I need to develop myself.”
