Bayer Leverkusen have beaten Manchester United in the race to sign winger Leon Bailey from Genk.

The German giants announced the signing of Bailey on a lucrative five-year contract earlier on deadline day after agreeing a big fee with Genk for the highly-rated 19-year-old.

Bailey had been scouted by the Red Devils for the majority of the season so far and were rumoured to be lining up an offer for the winger.

Leverkusen paid a fee believed to be in the region of £13million for the Jamaica U23 international and have handed the teenager the No. 9 jersey.

The starlet impressed a number of top clubs across Europe with consistent and exciting performances for Genk this term.

Bailey scored eight goals and came up with 10 assists in the Belgian Pro League before finalising his deadline day switch to the Bundesliga.
