Manchester City prepared to offer Argentine £800k-a-week

Manchester City are reportedly in talks with sign FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The Argentinian is reportedly unsettled in Spain due to the tax issues he’s having with the Spanish authorities and he could be ready to leave the country.

If Messi does choose to leave the Nou Camp, the Premier League is his preferred destination, and it’s already sparked interest from four English clubs.

Arsenal, Manchester United, City and Chelsea would all jump at the chance to sign Messi, but it looks like his cost is ruling most of them out the running.

City Going Big

However, not City. According to reports, they are willing to offer the winger a staggering £800k-a-week, making him the highest paid footballer ever.

That weekly wage would see Messi take home around £40m-a-year.

The 28-year-old currently earns £500k-a-week in Spain, but with his contract expiring in 2018, he could be ready to leave Barca and start a new venture.

The same reports suggest that Barca would listen to offers around the £120m mark, despite his buyout clause standing at £250m.
