Breakout stars from this Premier League season?

Premier League breakout stars this season? Stars who have broken through this Premier League season? Over the course of this season, we have witnessed several stars burst onto the scene and into stardom.

Last year, it was Dele Alli and Marcus Rashford who stole all the headlines as the breakthrough players of the season. Both of those players have continued that great form into this season, with Alli picking up the Young PFA Player of Year award.

This season, we’ve seen some quality players break into the Premier League. We have compiled a list of best Premier League breakthrough players 2016/17. Which of these players do you think is the best Premier League young player 2016/17?

8) Ben Woodburn

Woodburn has been on the fringes of Liverpool team all season and has made a few appearances. He became Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer in November when he scored at the Kop end against Leeds in the EFL Cup.

7) Ben Chillwell

Chillwell was one of the promising names at the beginning of the season and he has lived up to the hype for Leicester this season. His performances have lead to him being linked with Liverpool. He scored a very well-taken goal for the Foxes last night against Tottenham at the King Power.

6) Demarai Gray

Leicester City swooped for Gray in the 2016 January transfer window and within five months of being in the top flight, the former Birmingham City winger was a proud recipient of a Premier League winner’s medal. He remains a bench player for the Foxes but glimpses of brilliance certainly spells a bright future for the England under 21 star. His screamer in the defeat to Manchester United this season is evidence enough.

5) Wilfried Ndidi

Another Leicester star who has caught the eye this season. N’Golo Kante’s departure left a gaping hole in Leicester’s midfield, but in Wilfred Ndidi they have unearthed a player capable of stepping into the void. The 20-year-old arrived from Genk as a relative unknown in January, but he soon justified his expensive £15million price tag.

4) Tom Davies

Everton academy product Davies has been a superstar in the second half of the season for the Toffees. The midfielder came into the team at the start of January, grabbing an assist in a 3-0 win over Southampton at Goodison Park. He also put in a noteworthy performance vs Manchester City at Goodison in Everton’s 4-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side in January.

3) Jordan Pickford

Despite Sunderland getting relegated, one positive they can take from the season is the discover of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has been outstanding. There was a costly error on his debut against Southampton earlier in the campaign, but since then, Pickford has shown an impressive command of his penalty box and registered a save percentage of 74.6 per cent.

2) Rob Holding

Holding has really impressed since entering the Arsenal team in April. The 21-year-old defender, a £2m recruit from Bolton last summer, has formed part of Arsene Wenger’s new-look back three, showing impressive maturity and composure to help the Gunners build some much-needed momentum ahead of the final games of the season on Sunday.

1) Gabriel Jesus

The man has been on fire since signing for City. Of course, he had the setback of his ankle injury, but has been in fine form.

“His impact has been huge,” said Guardiola recently. “He wants to become a great player, a better player, and he is willing to take advice and work hard.”

It seems the best is still to come from Jesus.
