Liverpool striker Iago Aspas will not be leaving the club this Summer, according to his agent.

Recent reports had linked the forward with a move away from Anfield once the season finished due to lack of first-team opportunities, but his agent has moved to deny the speculation surrounding his client.

The Spaniard joined Brendan Rodgers’ side last Summer from Celta Vigo in a deal which cost the club £7.7million, and despite only making a few first-team appearances, he is keen to remain at the club and fight for his place.

“There is no possibility of Iago returning to Spain or going anywhere else,” his agent said.

“Iago has a four-year contract with Liverpool and is very happy to be with the Reds, apart from the fact that he would obviously like to play more.

“But he is happy with Rodgers and he is not thinking about moving. I’ve never talked to any Italian club, Iago Aspas is fine at Liverpool and happy that the team is having a great season.”
