Inter Milan midfielder has agreed to join Anfield

Liverpool have reportedly moved a step closer in their pursuit of Mateo Kovacic by agreeing personal terms with the Inter Milan midfielder.

According to reports in Kovacic‘s homeland of Croatia, the 21-year-old has already agreed on joining the Premier League side and has already come to an agreement on personal terms.

Filling Gerrard’s Void

Brendan Rodgers has been a long-term admirer of Kovacic and is desperate to sign the Croat in order to help fill the void left by Steven Gerrard, who’s set to move to America.

Rodgers has already secured James Milner on a free-transfer from Manchester City and his attentions are now on Kovacic and a reported deal worth around £18million.

Previous Discussions

It’s believed that Liverpool previously offered around £15.2m for the midfielder, but Inter officials are adamant that they can recoup at least £18m for the starlet.

Despite the two clubs still needing to reach an agreement on price, it’s looking likely that Liverpool are close to announcing their second signing of the Summer.

Last Time They Did Business

The last Inter Milan player Liverpool signed was Philippe Coutinho in an £8m deal and if Kovacic can be half as good as that, he will be a fan favourite in Merseyside.
