Liverpool have been cleared to sign Alexandre Lacazette after Lyon informed the striker that he is allowed to leave the club.

Lyon manager Hubert Fournier is willing to let the France international leave the club as he hasn’t been impressed with the forward’s attitude in recent weeks amid transfer speculation, according to French source L’Equipe.

The 24-year-old has impressed a number of Champions League clubs in the last two years, with the Frenchman scoring 53 goals in 94 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal are leading the race to sign the Lyon academy product, with the Merseysider’s lining up an initial bid in the region of £21.2million to bring him to Anfield.

Liverpool gaffer Brendan Rodgers is desperate to bolster his attacking options before the new campaign starts, and Lacazette is at the top of his transfer target list.
