Reds ready to challenge Arsenal and Chelsea for winger

Liverpool have entered the race to sign FC Barcelona winger Pedro, according to reports in Spain.

The Reds are now believed to be in the market for a new wideman after Raheem Sterling left to join Manchester City in a deal worth £49million.

Liverpool are expected to spend £32.4m of that on Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, but they could also splash a further £22m on signing Pedro from Barca.

Interest in Pedro

The Spanish international saw his release clause diminish from £107m to just £22m last week, which alerted Chelsea and Arsenal, however, Liverpool are now said to be ready to make an offer.

The 27-year-old has admitted his future is far from certain at the Nou Camp, especially after the Catalan club signed Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid, and a move to the Premier League is his favoured destination.

Chelsea Favourites

However, it could be Chelsea who land him due to their Spanish contingency at the club.

According to reports, Cesc Fabregas is talking to Pedro and trying to persuade him to join The Blues rather than their rivals and has used the Spanish influence in the dressing room to persuade the winger.

Some reports have claimed that Chelsea could strike a deal for the Barca star next week, but that hasn’t put off Liverpool.
