Vice-captain set to pen £100k-a-week deal

Liverpool are finally set to have a contract breakthrough with one of their stars as Jordan Henderson closes in on a new deal.

The Reds have had a tricky few weeks off the field with three of their first-team players snubbing new deals and refusing to talk until the end of the season. However, their vice-captain appears to have changed his mind and is set to secure a new long-term deal.

As well as Henderson, Liverpool are trying to tie down Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel, but they have both confirmed that talks are off until the Summer.

Despite the duo snubbing a contract and the likelyhood of missing out on Champions League football, it looks like Henderson will be signing a new deal after agreeing terms on a contract worth around £100k-a-week.

This will come as a big blow to Chelsea who were reportedly interested in signing the Englishman after another impressive season for Brendan Rodgers.
