Liverpool move for Bony is stalling

Liverpool’s bid for Wilfried Bony has hit a stumbling block because of the transfer fee and this issue could also affect two other transfer deals. Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins wants more than the £19m release clause in the striker’s contract and the Reds aren’t willing to pay that much.

The Ivory Coast man had a great season for Swansea last season and even bagged two goals in Brazil, despite his country being knocked out at the group stage. The forward is being viewed by Brendan Rodgers as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez, who has left Anfield to join barcelona.

Liverpool are also eyeing up moves for two other Swansea players. One is for left-back Ben Davies, who is also being linked with Tottenham and the other is for goalkeeper Michel Vorm. Defender Davies is valued at over £8m, while Vorm is valued at £6m.

Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez is another player (and another Southampton player) who Liverpool are being linked with but the Saints may be reluctant to sell any more, after losing Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert. Dejan Lovren is also still pushing for a move away from St Marys.
