Reports have emerged claiming that Liverpool made a bigger bid than Arsenal for FC Barcelona star, Alexis Sanchez, but the forward wanted to join The Gunners over The Reds.

It’s believed that Liverpool made an offer of around £35million, which was £3m more than Arsenal’s £32m, but the 25-year-old persuaded Barca to accept the North London club’s offer instead due to his desire to play for them instead.

The Chilean international, who had a superb World Cup in Brazil, was considered as part of a swap-deal for Luis Suarez, but initially, Brendan Rodgers rejected that idea as he wanted all money for the Uruguayan.

However, according to reports in Spain, Rodgers went back in for Sanchez, and even offered more than Arsenal, but the player had his heart already set on the Emirates Stadium.

Despite the £3m gap in offers, Barca officials allowed Sanchez to join Arsenal, and since then, he has scored 10 goals in his first 15 appearances for The Gunners.
