Liverpool have opened talks with Spanish Champions Atletico Madrid over the potential signing of Toby Alderweireld. Brendan Rodgers has made defence strengthening a crucial priority for this summer, and Alderweireld has been shortlisted by The Reds boss.
According to reports in Italy, Liverpool have offered the Catalan club £7 million for his services and Rodgers hopes to do business quickly.The 25-year-old was a previous target of Liverpool’s but snubbed the Merseyside club and opted to sign for Atletico Madrid instead.
However, the Belgian international has failed to establish himself as a regular starter in Diego Simeone’s side. The Spanish side have agreed to sell the player if the right price is met.
