Liverpool confident of world record £40million deal to land Stoke keeper Jack Butland.

Klopp is looking for an upgarde in goal over Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool fancy their chances of landing Stoke keeper Jack Butland for a record-busting £40million, according to reports. Despite the Potters awful season, Butland has still been impressive and is in line to be England’s No.1 at the World Cup in Russia.

Butland wants to link up with Jurgen Klopp instead of joining Arsenal. The Potters seem resigned to losing Butland but will demand Liverpool make him the most expensive keeper in the world if they are serious about doing business.

The £40m quoted would smash the £34.7m Manchester City shelled out for Ederson from Benfica last year and perhaps more significantly eclipses the £30m Everton paid Sunderland for Jordan Pickford.

Klopp has also been keeping an eye on Roma’s Brazilian stopper Alisson. But the German has gone with Butland’s Premier League experience as a key ingredient for a new keeper next season.

Karius has been impressive of late and has managed to displace Mignolet for the No.1 spot but with Belgian set to leave, the Reds are willing to spend big in the summer to solve their issues.
