Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has reportedly told the board that he wants Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguay international could be available to move to Old Trafford in the summer for around £50 million.
This is due to the Red Devils not wanting to make Radamel Falcao’s loan move from Monaco a permanent switch, as the Colombian has been in poor form this season.
Cavani will apparently be offered a £220,000-a-week contract to swap the French capital for Manchester.
This is coming after United’s Chief Executive, Ed Woodward, said the club can compete with Real Madrid on a financial basis.
The 28-year old has scored 15 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions this campaign.
