It has come to light that under-pressure Manchester United manager, Louis Gaal, prevented a big money signing at Old Trafford, just last week.
United, who languish five-points adrift of the Champions League places – and are fifth in the top-flight, following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton.
Despite having been linked with a whole host of talent, the Red Devils are yet to make their move in the January transfer window, as Van Gaal remains in a fight to save his job.
According to recent reports, the United’s misery was compounded when the un-named player, who was keen on a move to the club, saw his proposed transfer vetoed by Van Gaal.
A piece in the Guardian suggested that the Dutchman was ready to hand in his resignation in the wake of the poor form at the moment. Van Gaal has spent over £250m since taking over the managerial vacancy in July 2014.
Real Madrid winger, Gareth Bale, has been a long-term target for United, but according to the Independent, has been put off a return to English shores due to the uncertainty of the manager situation at Old Trafford.
