Manchester City will open contract talks with James Milner within the next month. The midfielder will have just 12 months left on his contract in summer and City want to open new contract talks with him before the World Cup.
The England man is happy to remain at the club in the position he is in, as a squad player, but only if he continues to get a reasonable amount of games. Current boss Manuel Pellegrini is a fan of Milner and does want to sort a contract out before the games begin in Brazil.
The Citizens are likely to offer him a three-year deal which will take his stay at the club until 2017. They are however only prepared to match his current £80,000 a week wages.
