Manchester United are ready to activate the £48million release clause of Koke this summer in order to sign him from Atletico Madrid.

United are thought to have identified the playermaker as one of their key transfer targets this summer, but Atletico have refused to discuss selling him. With players such as Diego Costa, Tiago and Filipe Luis also all possible leaving this summer, there is no rush for the Spanish club to sell.

However, new United boss Louis van Gaal is ready to force them to do buisness.

Koke has a release clause in his contract of £48million and reports in Spain are claiming that United will meet that figure in the coming days, forcing Atletico into negotiations. It’s also claimed that United have offered the player a deal worth a staggering £3million-per-season move, but the stumbling block for the deal to go ahead is Atletico refusing to sell.

United are crying out for a new creative midfielder, and with Bayern midfielder Toni Kroos ruling out a move to Old Trafford last week, United have now made Koke their no. 1 transfer target.
