Roberto Martinez has said the next few days will be “crucial” in determining Eden Hazard’s fitness situation

Roberto Martinez says that Eden Hazard is not  “100 per cent” fit yet as the Belgium manager decides on calling him up for international duty or not.

Hazard has been sidelined since the start of the summer after having suffered a broken ankle while on international duty with Belgium.

Hazard had to undergo surgery to correct the problem and has been working with Chelsea’s medical team over the summer to get himself fully fit again.

The 26-year-old has sat out both of Chelsea’s first two Premier League games of the season and it remains to be seen exactly when the midfielder will make his return for the Blues.

Belgium boss Martinez however, has said that Hazard may be in contention for called up during the international break.

Martinez told Voetbalkrant when asked about Hazard’s fitness: “He isn’t 100 per cent fit yet. The next two days will be crucial.”

Belgium play Gibraltar on 31 August, before taking on Greece on 3 September.
