Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is interested in signing Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos after the Spaniard has apparently fallen out with the club’s officials.

The centre-back has spoken to the club about his current contract, which is worth roughly around £4.6million a year, however, Ramos is wanting at least £2m more so that he is roughly earning the same as their top-earners.

Despite his demands, Madrid are not keen on bowing to his expectations and this could pave an opening for City to make a bid for the 27-year-old.

City, who are low on defensive cover due to Vincent Kompany’s injury, will have to pay around £41million in order to capture Ramos, due to his release clause in his contract, but that is a price they are willing to meet in order to sign a top-class centre-back.

Some reports are suggesting that City are even prepared to offer Ramos a whopping £7.2m a year, which could persuade him to make the move from Spain to England.
