Citizens ready to bid again for winger

Manchester City are ready to launch a third and final bid for Liverpool star Raheem Sterling.

The Citizens have already made two formal bids for the England international, but have seen both turned down after falling way short of Brendan Rodgers‘ valuation of the 20-year-old.

City Remain keen on Sterling

According to reports, Liverpool want £50million for the winger and Rodgers has told the board not to accept a bid worth anything less.

So far, City have launched a £25m bid, which could rise to £30m with add-ons, and a £35m bid, which could rise to £40m with add-ons.

However, City officials were in discussions last night about potentially launching a third and final bid for the winger, with some reports suggesting they’ll make a £40m bid, which could rise to £45m.

Despite still being £5m short of Rodgers’ asking-price, with Sterling desperate to leave Anfield, The Reds may accept the offer and move on.

Sterling Absent

Sterling has missed the last two days of training after calling in sick both times, without the club doctor assessing him in line with the club’s policy.

The winger has also informed Rodgers that he has no intentions of going on the Far East pre-season tour which begins on Sunday.

The 20-year-old told the manager on Monday that he doesn’t want to join the squad on the pre-season tour, but was told by Rodgers that he will have to go unless a deal is done by the weekend.
