Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer.
It is thought that the Real star is ‘in talks’ with Jose Mourinho over a possible move to Old Trafford, and the United boss also wants to sign his Madrid teammate, Alvaro Morata.
Any deal for the France centre-back would likely involve United keeper David De Gea moving in the opposite direction.
Real are willing to splash £60million on the United star as they look to make amends for their disastrous attempt two years ago, where a paperwork error denied the signing from happening on deadline day.
Madrid view Varane as an indispensable player and a future star, but Mourinho has been unable to nail down a centre-bac pairing this season and wants to bring another defender in this summer.
Eric Bailly, a £30m summer signing from Villarreal, is a regular for the Red Devils, but question marks remain over the remaining position.
Marcos Rojo has filled in well this season but Mourinho prefers to play him at left-back when possible.
