Manchester United made a formal bid for FC Barcelona star Neymar, according to his agent.
United were heavily linked with making a big-name signing over the summer, and after missing out on both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, they turned their attentions to Neymar.
According to his agent, who is also his father, United made a bid worth a staggering £144million, only to see it be rejected by the La Liga giants.
In the summer they wanted Neymar, Louis van Gaal went on to spend £108m, but according to Neymar snr, they were ready to spend just £144m on his son.
