Agent of Barcelona star confirms formal bid was made

Manchester United made a formal bid for FC Barcelona star Neymar, according to his agent.

United were heavily linked with making a big-name signing over the summer, and after missing out on both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, they turned their attentions to Neymar.

According to his agent, who is also his father, United made a bid worth a staggering £144million, only to see it be rejected by the La Liga giants.

In the summer they wanted Neymar, Louis van Gaal went on to spend £108m, but according to Neymar snr, they were ready to spend just £144m on his son.

Formal Bid Was Made

“Manchester United is the side that offered €190m [£144m] for Neymar,” he told radio station Cadena COPE.
“He has still two years left on his contract but you all can be calm as my son is so happy here,” he added.
