Manchester United are ready to open formal talks with David De Gea over a new contract and are prepared to go in with a big offer.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move back to his homeland, with Real Madrid desperate to sign him in order to replace the aging Ilker Casillas.
However, United are now set to open formal talks regarding a new contract with his current one set to expire next Summer.
Officials from Old Trafford are keen on offering the shot-stopper a five-year deal worth a whopping £200k-a-week, making him one of the club’s highest earners.
Despite being offered over £10m-a-year, De Gea is still not entirely happy and wants the club to insert a release clause into the deal just in case he does eventually want out of the club.
It’s believed talks will continue until the end of the season with Madrid ready to pounce in the Summer.
