Midfielder ruled out for four-six weeks

Manchester United have suffered an injury blow with Michael Carrick being ruled out for up to six weeks due to an Achilles tendon injury.

The Red Devils midfielder pulled out of the England squad to face Chile and Germany due to the injury and now the club have confirmed that he is likely to miss over a month’s wort of action.

‘We can confirm that Michael Carrick will be out for four to six weeks with an Achilles injury,’ said the club on their official Twitter account.

It is believed that the Englishman played through the pain against Arsenal at the weekend, but on Tuesday he was sent to a Manchester hospital to get a check-up, and the club have today found out the news about the injury.

This means Carrick could be out until Christmas.
