Manchester United have missed out on the signing of Fran Villalba after the starlet confirmed he had signed a new four-year contract with Valencia.

The 18-year-old has only played one game for Valencia’s first-team and it was given to him by United legend Gary Neville last year.

“Very happy to renew four years more with the team of my life. I want to work and contribute in order to give back to this great club,” Villalba wrote on Twitter.

The news will come as a blow to the Red Devils after the youngster’s agent last week confirmed that the English giants had made contract over the availability of Villalba.

“[Manchester United made contact] with me. Just a contact to know his situation. They’re already aware,” Vicente Fores told Sport Witness.

“I don’t know about Valencia but I reckon they will make it hard.”
