Mourinho wants to keep hold of star man

Jose Mourinho is set to activate an extension clause in the contract of goalkeeper David De Gea.

The Spaniard has been a long-term target of Real Madrid but Mourinho is desperate to keep hold of his star man.

It is thought his wages of £180,000 per week will be raised for £200,000, making one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.

A United insider said: “The club are looking to exercise their option to extend David’s deal this summer.

“He will be given a pay increase. He has consistently been one of the best goalkeepers in the world for a number of years now.

“There shouldn’t be any problems, but clubs have been sniffing around him for a number of years now.”
