The Red Devils can sign winger if £22million clause is activated

FC Barcelona have told Manchester United they can sign Pedro but only if they activate his release clause.

The Spaniard had his clause decreased from £107million to just £22m earlier in the summer, sparking interest from the Premier League, with United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all interested in signing the winger.

However, it’s now United that are in pole position to land the Spanish international, but they must activate his release clause.

According to reports, Louis Van Gaal was trying to sign Pedro for just £18m, but Barca have made it clear that they will only see if the release clause is met.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has confirmed that if United do meet the release clause, Pedro is allowed to leave, but they won’t sell for anything less.

Release Clause

He told talkSPORT: “Barcelona are very, very, very clear. Give us €30m [£22m] and you can take him.

“Of course, Manchester United and Pedro have reached an agreement so it’s just a matter for United to pay the €30m and I wouldn’t be surprised if they do.”
