Marco Silva urges his players to bounce back after Brighton defeat

Marco Silva has called for a greater level of consistency from his players after Everton went down 1-0 away from home to Brighton. The Toffees were unable to keep up the momentum after their emphatic 5-1 victory over Burnley in their previous game while Brighton, on the other hand, claimed their first victory in their last five games courtesy of Jurgen Locadia’s solitary strike.

Everton have managed only 7 wins out of 20 games in the Premier League this season under new manager Marco Silva, with their up and down form restricting them to 10th in the standings. However, Silva has urged his players to overcome the shock defeat and bounce back on New Year’s Day when they host Leicester City.

“It is important to be strong again and ready for the next match in three days,” he told the club’s official website.

“We don’t have time to prepare in the normal way but that is the schedule and we have to put in our players’ minds how important the next game is.

“It will be a tough match but we have to give 100 per cent to win it.”

Everton beat Leicester 2-1 that last time that the two teams met in the Premier League, which might give the Toffees a bit of a psychological advantage heading into the reverse fixture.
