Liverpool legend believes time is right after latest controversy

Luis Suarez has been at the centre of many controversies during his time at Liverpool, but now club legend Mark Lawrenson has admitted it is time for him to be sold following his latest biting incident at the World Cup on Tuesday.

It was the 3rd biting saga Suarez has been involved in. He was banned from club football for 10 games after biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic. He was banned for 7 games during his days at Ajax for biting PSV’s Otman Bakkal’s shoulder in 2010. This time, he has been banned from all football activity for 4 months, and has also received a 9 match international ban.

Other noteworthy incidents include the times he received an 8 match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra during a Premier League clash at Anfield. He also accepted an extra 1 match ban for making an obscene gesture to Fulham fans at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool have stood by the Uruguayan through all of these controversies, but now Mark Lawrenson has claimed his time should be up at Anfield.

What does Liverpool owner John Henry do now?” he told the BBC. “I would think he wants to wash his hands of Luis Suarez.

“Henry will try and get the best possible deal for Liverpool. Somebody will buy him. It is football when all is considered.”

Real Madrid and Barcelona seem to be leading contenders for Suarez, with both willing to pay big money for the striker. He has had a wonderful season overall at Anfield, guiding Liverpool to a shock 2nd place finish, with a chance of the title on the very last day.
