Liverpool defender Martin Kelly has confirmed on Twitter that he has joined Tony Pulis’ Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old right-back has been strongly linked with an exit from Anfield this Summer, after making just eight appearances for Brendan Rodgers last season, and after The Reds signed Javier Manquillo on loan from Atletico Madrid, Kelly’s future was all-but decided.

Despite neither clubs making an official announcement on the deal, Kelly jumped the gun by taking to his official Twitter account to thank Liverpool for giving him an opportunity there.

Kelly Tweeted: ‘I would like to thank all the managers at lfc for making my wish from the age of 7 come true playing for 1 of the biggest clubs in the world.’

‘Most of all would like to thank the fans for supportin me since my home debut against Lyon oct 2009 even through injuries always by my side.

‘Now to start a new chapter of my football career at crystal palace a great club with unbelievable fans excited already for the weekend.’

Crystal Palace start their campaign with a tricky away trip to the Emirates Stadium.
