BBC have confirmed that Arsenal are in talks with French midfielder Mathieu Flamini about a possible transfer.

The former-AC Milan midfielder left the Italian side this summer after his contract expired and he has recently been training with his former employers in London.

Flamini is a strong holding midfielder, much what Arsenal are in need of, and the deal could be concluded as soon as next week, if all parties agree.

The 29-year-old originally joined Arsenal back in 2004, when he signed from French side Marseille, and he became a crucial part of Arsene Wenger’s team and was heavily included in the side that reached the Champions League final back in 2006.

Flamini would be Arsenal’s second summer signing after they captured Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre.
