Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has signed a new contract with the club, tying him down until 2021.

the 44 year old was appointed manager back in May 2014 on an initial 5-year deal, and saw Spurs not only reach a very respectable 5th placed finish, but guided the club to a league cup final in his first season.

Things have only got better  in the league for Spurs this season, as they are guaranteed a top 3 finish after a truly exciting season. According to the argentine manager, this is “just the beginning” for his Tottenham side.

The slim title hopes the club had this season were crushed last week, as they failed to overcome Chelsea and the match ended as 2-2, meaning Leicester City were crowned champions.

One thing Pochettino can be credited for is having faith in young, English talent. Players such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier have all flourished under his guidance, to the extent that they are now in contention to star on the international stage this summer.

Due to the clubs recent success in the league under the exciting Argentine, there has been much speculation as to whether this would be his last season at White Hart Lane. He was seen at one point having lunch with Sir Alex Ferguson, causing concern with the Spurs faithful. This concern may now be drifting away however, as he seems more than committed to the club.

When questioned about the future of  himself and Tottenham Hotspur, Pochettino said: “We have a long-term project and huge belief that we can achieve something big here for the future,”

“This club has all the ingredients to continue to challenge at the very top in both the Premier League and in Europe.

“We want to be here to be a part of what I believe will be a special period in the club’s history.”

With their new £400m stadium, into which they intend to move in 2018-19, Pochettino must rely on his  ability to succeed without heavy backing on the market is invaluable- something that he has already proved during his tenure at the club.

It looks as if the future of Tottenham Hotspur is looking very bright indeed.
