Barcelona star man Lionel Messi is set to be offered a new contact at the Nou Camp.

The Argentina forward has attracted attention from clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea this term, however the Spanish giants are determined to keep him at the club.

If Messi signed a contract extension this would frustrate Manchester United and Chelsea as they are keen to make a large bid for Messi.

The 28 year old currently earns a staggering £14.4 million a year, that’s 543 times more than the average wage in the UK!

His current deal expires in 2018 and has a £180 million release clause in it, however it’s unlucky any team would pay that much for a player at the peak of his career.

Barcelona will be keen to avoid another transfer window like last year’s when Messi attracted attention from Premier league clubs.
