Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has apologised to fans for not coming over and applauding them for their support.
The German international looked defeated and devastated at full-time after The Gunners were thumped 6-3 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, and he was ready to set off down the tunnel before captain for the day Per Mertesacker confronted him.
The tall centre-back visibly yelled at his counterpart and told him to go and thank the travelling fans.
However, the £43million signing didn’t do as told, but has now sent this message to the Arsenal fans on his official Facebook account.
“Sorry I didn’t thank the fans at the end of the game.
“You have been brilliant to me and I know you had travelled a long way to the game and spent your money to support us.
“I was upset with the result, but I know I should have respected the club’s tradition by coming and thanking you whether we win, lose or draw.”
