Barcelona were considering a move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil before Liverpool were willing to deal on Luis Suarez
The Catalan giants are looking to sharpen their attack this summer, and Spanish newspaper Sport claims new boss Luis Enrique was contemplating an approach for former Real Madrid man Ozil.
However, Enrique soon abandoned his plans for the Gunners’ ace after Suarez’s infamous bite on Giorgio Chiellini softened Liverpool’s stance on selling their star striker.
It’s now understood that Barca are poised to open discussions with Liverpool over a potential £80 million deal for the controversial Uruguayan.
