Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta believes the squad’s options in midfield gives them an edge in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners are currently second in the table, one point behind Chelsea, and just ahead of favourites Manchester City, although Manuel Pellegrini’s men have a game in hand over Arteta and co.

Throughout the season, Arsenal have been questioned and doubted due to their lack of striking options, but their vice-captain believes the midfield players they have should be considered as attacking options too.

Arsene Wenger has a whole host of top names in his midfield, including; Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arteta believes that is something that gives them an edge.

“It helps the team because we can rotate players and we can play differently,” Arteta said on Arsenal Player.

“We can play with two [in midfield] and it gives us another option.

“No-one has been able to play every game this season. I think the league is getting more demanding, you need a big squad, you can’t afford to have only 11 players.”
