Real Madrid playmaker Luka Modric could be set for a shock Premier League return in the summer transfer window.
The Croatian international is a key figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but reports that Modric’s girlfriend is unsettled in the Spanish capital could direct a move back to England.
Manchester United and Chelsea have the strongest links to Modric. United boss Louis van Gaal reportedly has another £150 million to spend this summer, whereas Mourinho is a known admirer of Modric after signing him at Real Madrid.
FIFA agent Francois Gallardo suggested personal issues could result in a move back to the Premier League, when speaking to French medium Le 10 Sport.
He said: “Modric is the engine of Real Madrid, but the problem it is his wife who did not fit into Madrid Spain.”
The 29-year old, Modric, has scored two goals in ten La Liga appearnces so far this campaign.
