FC Basel midfielder set for switch

Mohamed Elneny is a step closer to completing his transfer to Arsenal from FC Basel, with the midfielder set to fly to England to finalise the transfer.

Arsenal and Basel have already agreed on a transfer fee, believed to be around £5million, and Elneny will now complete personal terms with the Gunners before undergoing a medical.

The transfer should be announced early January as all the details are already in place and all that needs completing his the official documents and paperwork, as well as the player’s medical.

Midfield Changes

Elneny is seen as a suitable replacement for injured duo Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin, but it’s also believed Arsene Wenger will still sign a new centre-midfielder in the summer, with Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky all set to depart the Emirates Stadium.

The 23-year-old has flown back to his homeland in order to spend Christmas with his family, but it’s believed he will then fly straight to London in order to finalise his transfer in the New Year.
