Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata said that Antonio Conte’s style was the reason why he struggled last season. The Spaniard joined Chelsea at a whopping £60 million. He had a good start to the season but his form dipped as the season progressed. He eventually ended the season with only 11 goals in 31 matches. This resulted in Morata being left out of Spain’s World Cup squad.

Morata said, “The most important thing is the way we play. Last season it was direct balls and for me to protect the ball in the air is not my best quality. Now I can attack the space, I can play one touch and go in the area for the crosses. It’s better for me.”

Morata scored his first goal of the Premier League against Arsenal. He was all praise for new manager Maurizio Sarri and said that the Italian’s style could help him fetch more goals this season.

Chelsea play their next fixture against Newcastle on Sunday.
