Which ‘keeper tops the list for most clean-sheets?

In modern football, it’s always the attacking players that get the praise and get the recognition, so we thought we’d put together a list of the most clean-sheets for one goalkeeper this season.

It’s very rare a goalkeeper wins any individual awards or gets specific praise above the outfield players, but not at sillyseason.

Top 10 clean-sheets so far this season

Here are the top-10 clean-sheets so far this season.

10. Adrian – West Ham United

The Spanish stopper Adrian sits tenth in the list for West Ham United.

The goalkeeper has started in every single Premier League game so far this season for The Hammers and has eight clean sheets to his name.

Adrian kept his first ever Premier League clean sheet back in January 2014 during a 2-0 away win against Cardiff City.

9. Costel Pantilimon – Sunderland

Romania goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, currently playing for Sunderland, comes in at ninth with also eight clean sheets this season.

Pantilimon started the season as back-up to Vito Mannone, but after a string of errors from the Italian, the former-Manchester City shot-stopper took over as the number-one and has remained there ever since.

The Romanian is currently the tallest player in the Premier League, standing 203cm tall. He made his premier league debut for Sunderland in a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace .

8. Brad Guzan – Aston Villa

The Aston Villa stopper has so far made nine clean sheets in thirty four appearances.

The American international has had a solid season for Villa despite their struggles throughout the campaign. With safety now looking likely due to Tim Sherwood’s arrival, Guzan and co. can focus on the FA Cup Final later on this month against Arsenal.

7. David De Gea – Manchester United

David De Gea is the second Spaniard to feature in our list after national team-mate Adrian, with 10 clean-sheets to his name.

Starting all the thirty five Premier League games for Manchester United, De Gea is a crucial part of Louis Van Gaal’s side, and his recent performances at Old Trafford have caught the eye of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

After a string of fine performances, the Spaniard has managed to keep 10-clean sheets for The Red Devils and will be hoping to add a few more to his tally before the season ends.

6. Lukasz Fabianski – Swansea City

Former Arsenal stopper is sixth in our list with 12 clean-sheets.

Fabianski has had a great debut season for Swansea and has eleven so far for the season. Making 34 appearances, the Pole has been ever-present for Gary Monk and has kept The Swans in games with some fine stand-out performances.

Last year’s FA Cup hero for Arsenal, Fabianski let his contract expire at the Emirates and completed a free transfer to Swansea over the Summer.

For free, he is looking a great bit of business by the Welsh side.

5. Joe Hart – Manchester City

Joe Hart is the first of three English stoppers to make the list.

Currently playing for Manchester City, Hart has 12 clean sheets to his name in the thirty three premier league appearances he has made for City so far this season.

Hart has won two Premier League trophies with The Citizens and has also won the Premier League golden glove for three consecutive campaigns. (2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13).

The England international has also appeared twice in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year. (2009-10 and 2011-12).

4. Fraser Forster – Southampton

Fraser Forster is the second English footballer to make the top-1o list.

Currently playing for Southampton, he has 11 clean sheets to his name in the thirty appearances he has made so far.

Forster made his Premier League debut for Southampton against Liverpool earlier on this season, though Saints lost the game 2-1.

However, Forster has been instrumental in Ronald Koeman’s side and has been one of the main reasons behind their push for Champions League football. Sadly after a long, hard-fought season, The Saints fell just shy of the top-four.

3. Ben Foster – West Bromwich Albion

Unfortunately the third English player in our list, Ben Foster, will miss the rest of the season after he suffered against a knee-injury against Stoke City.

Foster has had a good season for WBA, keeping 11 clean sheets for The Baggies in the twenty eight appearances he made this season.

Being the third in the list shows how busy Foster has been throughout the campaign and with WBA set for another season in top-flight football, the England shot-stopper will want to return to full-fitness as soon as possible.

2. Simon Mignolet – Liverpool F.C

Simon Mignolet is a Belgium footballer currently playing for Liverpool Football Club and has so far made thirty two appearances in the league, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process.

Despite a nervy period for the shot-stopper, Mignolet has overcome the doubters and the run of poor form and is sill fighting for the golden glove come the end of the season.

Numerous high profile errors and mistake lead to Brendan Rodgers dropping his number-one halfway through the season, but after reclaiming his spot, he has gone on to make an impressive 13 clean sheets.

1. Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea F.C

Finally the Premier League stopper with most clean sheets so far this season is another Belgian professional footballer, Thibaut Courtois.

The Chelsea shot-stopper is so far level with Mignolet on 13 clean-sheets and after securing the Premier League title over the weekend, no doubt he would love to add the golden glove to his name.

It was a Chelsea ‘keeper who won the award last year in Petr Cech, who shared the award with Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, but after the torch was seemingly passed in the Summer, it’s now Courtois chance to win it.

The Premier League is secured and now Chelsea will want to fight to give their team-mate an individual award to top off a superb campaign.
