Jose Mourinho has spoke of his shock of Cesc Fabregas’ move back to the Premier League.
Chelsea were able to snatch the Spanish playmaker from various clubs for £27m once the transfer window opened this summer, after the player persisted a move away from Barcelona.
Fabregas was able to score his first goal at Chelsea during their 3-1 win over Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem and boss Mourinho admits he was surprised at the transfer.
“I always thought Cesc would stay a Barcelona player,” Mourinho told The Times.
Mourinho also admits Fabregas is the missing piece in the Chelsea jigsaw and has an excellent ‘football brain’.
He added: “We want to move in a different direction. It’s something our football needs.
“I see him [Fabregas] everywhere, because he can play everywhere.
“His best quality is the speed at which he analyses the game and executes. He’s very intelligent. And he gives you goals.”
