Manchester City are reportedly in the front foot for Nathan Ake’s signature over Chelsea.

With Bournemouth facing relegation worries this season, Ake could be one of the players to be sacrificed in the coming months.

Plenty of top sides want him, most notably his former club, Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. It is pretty evident why the Cityzens would target a player like Ake. He is technically good, still young and has that versatility in his game to play in different tactical roles. Chelsea need defensive reinforcements of their own and could very well take their former academy graduate back with a clause in place.

City have not looked the same as last season without Vincent Kompany in their backline. Their feeble title challenge will need to be backed up by strong additions much like that of Ake. The 25-year-old’s signature would not break the bank but could much rather be a bargain addition.

Guardiola was happy to see his team being let off by the UEFA after FFP violations from 2012 to 2016. Now that they have been exempted from punishment of two years without Champions League football, the club can attract top players once again. FFP regulations have also been eased due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that calls for a bumper transfer window for City this summer.
