Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has given up in his attempt to sign Loic Remy, reports The Chronicle.

Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle, impressing at the Magpies, scoring 14 goals in 26 appearances.

But despite recent interest, Pardew will not be following up his attempt to sign the Queens Park Rangers striker, who returned to his parent club this week.

He said: “I think he’s had plenty of chances to come to us.

“We made it very clear that we would like to have him and it hasn’t really happened and therefore sometimes you have to say where’s the line drawn for us as a club as we have our own respect and our own professionalism.

“So maybe that one has gone away but like all transfers they’re never, ever over so we’ll keep our finger on the pulse.”

Remy recently failed a medical at Liverpool, in a reported £8 million proposed deal.
