Newcastle are set to make yet another Ligue 1 swoop as they eye Bordeaux striker Cheick Diabate according to ‘The Metro’. Manager Alan Pardew is set to enter the January transfer market and put right some of the summer deals that didn’t quite go through.

The Tyne-Side club saw many targets fall just out of their reach as the deadline approached, leaving them with just the one signing, Loic Remy on loan from Queen’s Park Rangers. Pardew is keen to sign another striker to bolster their attacking strength and is thought to have had an eye on Cheick Diabate due to his eye for goal and strong attacking presence.

it is thought that the Malian will be avaliable to the Toons for around £5m and that he would be very keen to join the Premier League. Diabate has also been linked with London clubs West ham and Arsenal, which could see a potential bidding war for the heavily sought after Bordeaux striker. And with 6 goals already this season, it would be no surprise to see Newcastle add yet another Ligue 1 player to their squad, already full of French talent.
