Former-president believes Brazilian could leave Nou Camp one day

Manchester United have been given hope in their pursuit of FC Barcelona star Neymar after their former-president, Joan Laporta, admitted that the Brazilian could leave the Nou Camp one day.

Laporta was discussing the long-term futures of star duo Lionel Messi and Neymar, and he stated that despite interest from across Europe, Messi would never leave the La Liga giants, but for Neymar, things could be different.

United have been keen on signing Neymar since the summer, and after reports emerged that he was about to be offered a new deal at the Nou Camp, worth a staggering £500k-a-week, it looked like the Premier League side would miss out.

However, Laporta has given them some hope after claiming the forward could leave the club due to financial reasons in the future.

After admitting that Messi would never leave the club, the former-president opened up about the possibility of Neymar moving on.

Neymar Could Leave

“For Neymar, it’s different,” he added. “The economic situation of the club is not good, but the current president, to balance the books must sell players or assets. And the best solution is to sell a great player.

“There is talk of a proposal for Man United. But all that, it is because of the mismanagement of the current leadership.”
