Bastian Schweinsteiger will officially say farewell to FC Bayern and the club’s fans with a match against his current club Chicago Fire.

“Bastian Schweinsteiger had an extraordinary career and left his mark on a highly successful era for Bayern. In addition, he was an important member of the Bayern family with his strong personality, and will always remain so. There was absolutely no doubt that Bayern Munich would say thank you with a testimonial match,” stated FC Bayern München AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

“I’m really looking forward to walking back out at the Allianz Arena and hopefully meeting lots of fans who’ve been there since the start of my career,” commented Bastian Schweinsteiger. “I’m especially looking forward to seeing the fans on the south terrace, as we’ve always had a great relationship”.

Schweinsteiger will play one half for each team and is very grateful for the support from both clubs: “I especially want to thank Bayern Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß, as well as Andrew Hauptman and Nelson Rodrìguez from Chicago Fire for making the testimonial match possible.”
